Website Development and Graphical Designs

Here are my most recent website creations and graphic designs. As a Bude Website Designer,  my ultimate goal for each project is to make sure every design stands out with a unique style, has a precise function and has a clear purpose.

What Happens?
FAQ's
  • We meet at your business premises or a local restaurant in order to discover more about the business and your proposed project.
  • I work with companies all over the UK and can travel upon request (expenses to be agreed). Video conferencing platforms such as Skype and Google Hangouts can be used to undertake meetings for the convenience of clients.
  • Branding must be checked/updated before any website/design can be considered.
  • We will then discuss a project brief, detailing the structure of the proposed website and what advertising/marketing goals you would like the website to achieve for your business.
  • Concept designs (usually 1-3) are then designed and agreed upon before any development is considered
  • Once the design iterations have been agreed; I will start building the website. Progress can be viewed at any time.
  • Finally, a testing phase is completed along with any final changes suggested by yourself or your client.
  • You will be invoiced for the development fee towards the end of the project. Once payment is received, the website will be launched.
  • When the website is launched; I will demonstrate how you can edit/update the website yourselves. However, I am available at any time of the day (for free) if you have any questions.
  • No monthly payments, custom built systems that give complete control.
  • The cost of a website will vary depending on whether: branding design or development is required, the content needs to be written or rewritten and SEO needs to be undertaken. These requirments will be discussed in the very first meeting.
  • All graphics and designs are produced using either: Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop or Blender.
  • Development is completed using Microsoft Studio Code
  • Out of hours support is offered (at no extra cost)
  • No initial deposits are required.
  • Local prices are provided to local businesses in and around the Bude area. I know what it’s like to run small business in Bude and I am happy to help.
  • All details including the hosting package and contact details are registered in your business name, giving you complete control over your website.
  • Some of my clients choose to use 123-reg/GoDaddy for hosting; but I recommend TSO Host, as I feel you receive better support.
  • I do accept contracted work on a monthly basis if you require such service.
  • I do accept charity projects; but I would like to receive details before committing to any new work.
  • All websites have to be responsive and run on tablets/mobiles and desktop computers. Otherwise they will be down ranked by Google. At the time of writing, there are well over 800 factors that determine your website’s ranking. Google have provided vast amounts of information and built tools to ensure that a website is built in such a way that it provides visitors with the best user experience. I have the experience to provide my customers with effectively designed websites
  • All websites (including the ones I build) must have SEO (Search Engine Optimisation). Any website that does not have SEO may as well not be on the internet as it won’t be found by Google or any other search engine, when people type their keywords in.
  • If you require marketing using Google Adwords or Facebook Adverts (with provided support) then I can recommend several companies in Bude and across the UK.

Character Illustrations and Website Design For Devilishly Disabled

Devilishly Disabled (By Matt Emo) is a brand which adds humour to everyday situations faced by those with disabilities. We spread a message of inclusion and empowerment. The brand is about spreading a message of inclusion; it’s about removing the barriers and uncertainties surrounding disability. It’s about allowing a disabled person to be seen in a pub, club or out shopping and being able to say “hey this guy/girl clearly has a sense of humour”, I’m going to talk to them.

This was a seriously fun illustrative branding project, one that required lots of sketching! The brief I was given was fairly open and I was given the freedom to explore my own ideas for the style of the character. The only requirement was that the character had to have certain poses and expressions. I was tasked with creating a series of characters, an illustrated brand/logo, poster design and an initiative online website to allow people to buy tshirts.  Seriously fun little illustration project!

Flyer Designs for Bude Surfing Experience in Cornwall

Scott Marshall from Bude Surfing Experience in Cornwall approached me to give his current flyer designs a refresh. The current logo/branding is simple, easy to understand and most of all, memorable. Therefore using the logo, along with some early ideas from Scott, I wanted to inject a strong striking wave into the design to compliment the logo design but not one that would detract or clash, so a fine balance was struck between technical and clean waves.

The end result was one I was really, really pleased with – love producing simple but effective artwork :)

Dean can basically take any idea and make it happen on the computer screen

Website Design and Development for DS Painting and Decorating

DS Painting in Bude offers you a  professional painting & decorating services for all aspects of the decorating trade from interior to exterior, catering for both domestic & commercial clients.

From the start the website design had to utilise the branding colours from DS Painting and Decorating of black and blue. With this in mind, coupled with the fact I wanted to experiment, I decided to use black and a lot of painting (splat) effects throughout the website. This meant I could achieve a clean, fresh and easy to use website. Whilst also impacting visitors to the website. Tooooo much fun.

Owned by Robert and Sue Wood since 1986, Court Barn Hotel and Restaurant in Holsworthy is a romantic 17th century country house set in five acres, with unspoilt views across Devon countryside, has six individually furnished bedrooms and a multi-award winning restaurant.

The first task involved providing a series of website designs for Court Barn in Holsworthy, and with the help of the client’s research (initial sketches), the overall process was made simple. The website design that was produced was simple, easy to understand and most of all, memorable – exactly as they wanted it. Restaurant Designs for The Shack in Bude, Cornwall

The Shack is a modern cafe & takeaway offering fresh & healthy food in Bude, Cornwall.

The brief for this project was to produce an A5 leaflet to advertise the new menu at The Shack. The design follows a drift wood style to match the current branding whilst also giving all the elements custom shadows to them to give the leaflet a realistic feel to it.

Magneto Website Design and Development in Cornwall

The brief for this project was to design and develop an online lingerie shopping website using an e-commerce package called Magento to process the online orders, with automated schedule tasks to update the stock. I acted as the Magneto developer and designer for this project.

To ensure the brief was met, research was undertaken into the current trends within the lingerie industry. As a result, the most common trend is to use large captivating images in the hope that it would make customers have the urge to purchase the products instantly on the site. Therefore, using the images supplied I made sure I used the large sexy images as much as I could, but still ensuring the website remained functionable. After the designs were finalised the website was implemented. One of the requirements was to develop a custom script so that products would automatically be updated in the system via an XML feed. This included automatically downloading the appropriate images, stock level and product options.

It was such a luxury to have experimentation time with such an awesome project, very thankful to KinkyT.co.uk for allowing me the opportunity!

Website Design and Development for Bude Surf Life Saving Club in Cornwall

Bude Surf Life Saving Club provides professional lifeguards throughout the summer season on Crooklets Beach in Bude, Cornwall.

From the start the website design had to utilise the branding colours from Surf Life Saving Club. Responsive WordPress Website Design and Development for Leopallooza in Cornwall

This project was part of a 6 month task where I acted as the graphical designer and website developer. I was required to create initiative responsive wordpress website that worked on all tablets, computers and mobile devices that matched the same layout and style.

To achieve this, I took advantage of CSS3 and HTML5. This allowed me to play subtle animations which can be seen mostly in the background with the clouds moving and every 30 seconds flashing of lightning and the character animating.

This website in particular was a personal favourite, as creating a very unique look and feel to the website in a urban/smoggy theme gets me extra excited! The factories, smog, characters and every other fantasy little detail you could imagine were all required for this one. SOOOO much fun!!

Graphical Website Design and Development for A Luxury Coastal Retreat near Bude

This luxury coastal retreat occupies an area of outstanding natural beauty overlooking a private coastal beach in Widemouth near Bude, Cornwall. It was decided that the website design would use antique ruby as an ancient colour and anti-flash white as a complimentary colour to portray a coastal seaside look and feel.

After several design alterations we finally reached the right look and feel of a coastal seaside cottage. The next step in the website design process were the final touches/composition. This involved making the graphics look more realistic by implementing light sources and as a result designing the shadows in the right place to give them depth.

To make the website functionality slightly different to the typical accommodation website an interactive ajax calendar was developed. This meant the user could use a graphical seaside interface instead of the typical drop-downs you would see when making online bookings.

This project was undertaken as part of my employment with MD Web Solutions (www.md-websolutions.co.uk). All images and project information published with permission from MD Web Solutions.

With the requirements in mind, it was time to give it a look that would really portray the Brendon Arms Pub in Bude, Cornwall…this meant LOTS of contemporary design iterations! This resulted in really make the most out of the photography that was available. To further enhance on the design, a set of custom designed icons were introduced to replace the traditional navigation of text based links to give it that little extra touch.

Dean has recently completed our Kitchens, Bedrooms and Bathrooms website and we are absolutely delighted with the result. We asked for a website that would be uncluttered, clean and simple in design and Dean has interpreted this perfectly. Dean’s gentle guidance throughout the process has been fantastic, he is very easy to communicate with at very flexible times of the day with quick response to questions, queries and changes.  I would be more than happy to recommend Dean to anyone seeking a web-site design service.
