Alpha Taxis in Bude came to me looking for a new website design to give his brand a fresh look. I suggested having a cartoon mascot of his teddy bear and then animating it for the website.
After a several sketches, I converted the drawing into a vector format allowing me to split the character up into several pieces ready for animation. Developing the animation was an evolving process, constantly being tweaked and adjusted. However, after several alternations Steve was really happy with the final animation.
The website design came together really quick when using the character animation. As the colour schemes followed the style and design of the character.

Heidi Redman approached me to design a logo to help her get noticed and stand out from the other fitness coaches in and around Bude.
While we were discussing the logo, I quickly came to the decision to use the bricks (from The Unit) as the background texture and use the tire as the focused point of the logo. The reason for doing is that traditionally people use silhouettes of arm muscles in their logo, and as Heidi incorporates tyres into her fitness activities it seemed the nature thing to do.
The logo was so much fun to work on as I absolutely love designing something different which hasn’t been done before!
The Okey Cokey is a soft play area in Okehampton offering fantastic food and excellent entertainment for kids.
The brief I was given was to design a friendly, vibrant and playful website for Okey Cokey in Okehampton. They also asked for something that felt like an interactive game and supplied references to just about every interactive UI I love! Perfect!
I decided to use the HTML5 Canvas as it allows the drawing of graphics, on the fly, via scripting (JavaScript). And as Canvas has several methods for drawing paths, boxes and circles (all shapes associated with kids and play areas). This was the perfect solution. The end result is a background image that draws circles and stars at different intervals making the website dynamic. Furthermore, I also used jQuery to allow the navigation to be animated when hovering over the buttons.
I can’t express how much fun this interactive website was to put together! As it was something a bit different that most websites don’t show. I Love it!

The Starboard Restaurant is all about enjoying a cosy evening overlooking Crooklets beach with a cooked pizza from an open stove wood burner.
As I had already done the branding, it was a natural progression from the designs to the website. The task was to build an interactive WordPress website that scrolls (a one page website). But rather than just having big images spanning across the width of the page, I wanted to do something a bit more quirky. So instead, a curved wood textured with a rusted pipe to separate the sections was designed.
As well as the Starboard website, it had to be combined with Rosies Kitchen website. This meant revamping the current website. And Instead of having images spanning across the page again, I decided to use hand drawn icons with a rough pen line to separate each section. These icons were designed to be friendly and enjoyable to match the bright branding colours of red and white.
To combine both of these websites together, a landing page was also put together. This allows visitors to pick one of the two restaurants. Both logos were positioned in the centre allowing the sunset background image to be seen. To show the stunning views of the beach from both restaurants.

Tom from Rosies Kitchen approached me to produce some new menus to promote their fantastic range of food from breakfasts, pizzas to smoothies.
Following on from the website design I did a few months ago for Rosies, I used the same illustrations and gave each page its own illustration to ensure that each received the full focus that it deserves.
Furthermore, each page utilises the Rosies branding which is present on every page, and results in a menu that really sells the delicious selection of food on offer at the Rosies Kitchen in Bude.
The owners of Widemouth Bay Cafe were looking for a new website; to be designed and built completely from scratch. As a WordPress Developer in Cornwall, every website I build is from scratch so there are no barriers when designing the website.
We went through several designs from doing 3D renders of Widemouth to a fully designed website with driftwood signs swinging. However, it soon became obvious that using high resolution pictures of Widemouth with easy to use buttons to navigate visitors was more attractive.
As the branding had such distinct look colours – pink and white. We wanted to make sure we didn’t overuse the pink. Therefore, we decided to use the logo as a background watermark to reduce the amount of pink showing through.
To give Widemouth Bay Cafe an edge over its competitors. I decided to animate the logo between each page transition.

I was approached by B.E.D to design a charity poster for TJ’s event – Memories. The requirements were simply to use a picture of TJ and outline the important event details.
Richard Pierce is a Wildlife Conservationist, Author and Producer, developing conservation projects for Sharks, Rihno’s and Elephants in Africa and the UK.
The project involved refreshing his current website to show more going on, which meant developing a brand new website in WordPress. As Richard is all about the wildlife in Africa, I decided to draw silhouettes of Rihno’s, Sharks and Elephants and then combine them together to form an African landscape. This was then used as the background image with the content and social feed surrounding the silhouettes. This provided a nice balance between the content and the website design.

Trev approached me with producing a one page website to not only promote his taxi company (Trevs Taxi) but to also promote Bude using the hashtag #BigUpBude. This meant using Facebook and Twitter from his website. We quickly came to a decision to use the Software Development Kits (SDK) in PHP for both Facebook and Twitter to retrieve Trev’s latest posts and tweets. The end result is a timeline of all his latest tweets and posts in real time.
I can’t express how much fun this one page site was to put together! As it was something a bit different that most websites don’t offer.
The Sea Pool at Bude was created in the 1930s to provide a haven for safe swimming for the people of the town and the thousands of people who visit it each year.
Save Bude Sea Pool is a small charity with the aim of maintaining the pool by using donations and the support from the local businesses in Bude. As a business owner, I decided to support them by providing them with a complete website revamp. This involved designing a brand new website design with some quirky features (such as a wave loading effect) whilst making sure the website is professional and easy to use.
The look came together really quickly and the end result put a huge smile on the faces of the guys at the Bude Sea Pool.
